Relationship Counselling

How can relationship therapy help…..

Relationship counselling helps to bring your relationship more to the front of your minds.  Instead of being the bond in the background, it is explored and spoken about openly.

There are lots of aspects to our lives that demand our attention… work pressures, time pressures, general life management, family etc. etc. etc., this list is endless.  It is my belief that our relationships are subtly influencing all of the elements of our lives with us only rarely noticing it happening.

People may begin to ‘notice’ the influence of their relationship when it begins to adversely affect other parts of their lives.

Here are some reasons people explore the idea of relationship counselling….

  • They don’t feel that are communicating well

  • They have noticed distance between them

  • They are experiencing more conflict

  • There are subjects that are ‘no-go’ areas or subjects that always trigger conflict

  • They feel as though they have lost sight of the reasons they originally wanted to be together

  • There is a reduction or absence of intimacy

  • There has been a break in Trust

Here are some reasons individuals may seek relationship counselling….

  • They feel dissatisfied with their current relationship and wish to explore this with someone independent, who has a neutral and unbiased perspective

  • A relationship may have recently ended and they are looking for support moving forward

  • Exploring how they approach relationships or how they behave when in one

It is my experience that couples are often locked into behaviour that each partner feels there cannot be any other way of acting/reacting.  However, it gives me immense satisfaction to work with couples and be part of them evolving their patterns of behaviour and developing new, more effective, ways of being with each other
